Civil Arborist Inner West | Aura Tree Services
Civil construction projects across the North Shore often intersect with existing trees, protected vegetation and council requirements. Aura Tree Services provides structured arboricultural support for contractors who require safe and compliant vegetation management during civil works.
Our team works closely with project managers, engineers and site supervisors to manage trees within construction corridors. As a civil arborist in the North Shore, we assist with assessments, removals, pruning and reporting that align with engineering drawings and construction schedules.
Civil Arborist Services For Inner West Projects
Every civil arborist inner west engagement starts with understanding the project program, not just the trees. We review plans, identify trees affected by the works, and flag anything protected under a local tree preservation order or development consent condition early, while there is still time to adjust design or staging rather than stopping work later. This is delivered under the same ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS/NZS 4801 accredited Integrated Management System that covers every civil tree services engagement we run.
Where trees can be retained, we set out tree protection zones, root protection measures and monitoring requirements in line with the relevant Australian Standard, and provide the site supervision needed to demonstrate compliance to council or the principal contractor at any stage of the works.
Planning and staging are essential to maintain access and manage environmental constraints.
Road Upgrades, Rail Corridor And Infrastructure Works
Road widening, kerb realignments and rail corridor vegetation management all bring the same challenge: a defined construction footprint running through or beside established street trees and remnant vegetation. Our teams have handled clearance, canopy reduction and root zone works within active road reserves and rail corridors, coordinated around possession windows, exclusion zones and the traffic and safety requirements that come with working near live infrastructure.
Where trees need to come out entirely to make way for the works, we scope full tree removal and, for larger clearance areas, land clearing, sequenced to match the contractor’s program rather than run as a separate, disconnected mobilisation.

Working With Traffic Control And Other Contractors
Inner West civil sites are rarely worked in isolation. Traffic control crews, utility contractors and other trades are usually on site at the same time, and our arborist crews are used to slotting into that environment rather than working around it. We attend site inductions, follow the principal contractor’s traffic management plan, and coordinate our access and haulage windows with whoever is running the broader program.
Where crane support is needed to remove large limbs or whole trees clear of overhead assets, live traffic lanes or adjoining structures, our crane services are booked in as part of the same mobilisation, reducing the number of separate contractor visits the site coordinator has to manage.
DA Conditions, Approvals And Council Interfaces
Many Inner West civil projects carry development consent conditions relating to tree retention, replacement planting or arborist supervision during works. Our AQF Level 8 consulting arborist prepares the arborist reports needed to satisfy these conditions, whether that is a pre-construction impact assessment, a tree protection plan or a post-construction condition report confirming retained trees have come through the works intact.
We also attend council pre-construction meetings where required, and can act as the nominated tree management contact for the project, giving council a single, qualified point of contact rather than routing every query back through the head contractor.

Documentation, SWMS And Reporting
Civil sites expect the same documentation discipline from every subcontractor, and our arborist works are no exception. Every engagement includes a site-specific SWMS and risk assessment prepared under our ISO backed Integrated Management System, referencing the specific hazards of working near live traffic, underground services and other trades. Our approach to safety documentation is outlined on our commitment to safety page.
On completion, we provide a written summary of works carried out, tree condition photos where relevant, and any certification needed to close out the arborist-related items on the project’s compliance register, so the principal contractor has a clean record to hand over to the client or council.
Working Around Underground And Overhead Services
Civil corridors are rarely just about the trees above ground. Root zones frequently sit close to stormwater, sewer, gas and telecommunications infrastructure, and our crews work from service location plans and, where needed, potholing results before any root pruning or excavation adjacent to a tree begins. This reduces the risk of an arborist activity causing an unplanned utility strike partway through a civil program.
Overhead assets bring a similar set of constraints, particularly power lines running along Inner West streets with mature canopy encroaching on the easement. Where clearance work sits close to live overhead assets, we coordinate with the relevant network operator on isolation or spotter requirements before any climbing or crane work begins, so the civil contractor is not left managing that interface alone.

Trespassed on my property to chainsaw branches without my permission. Unable to negotiate or reason. Female neighbour spraying vitriol and instructions. Ignorant of illegal property entry and legislation as 4373-2007 that protects trees over 5m, trunks over 150mm, canopy spread over 3m or removing branches over 50mm.
